                About Bayou Dental Health

                A Non-Profit Oral Health Organization

Bayou Dental Health is a local oral health organization founded by Dr. Yaye Sarr. We aim to make oral health accessible for all populations in New Orleans, regardless of age or socioeconomic status, using mobile dental clinics. Background of Our Dental Services

Oral health strongly affects an individual’s quality of life. Regular consultations with dental professionals and preventative measures such as sealants and fluoride treatments strengthen oral hygiene and contribute to an individual’s overall health and well-being. Unfortunately, many residents within New Orleans cannot afford regular dental care and do not have access to preventative dental care treatments. The two most underserved populations are:

                Children

According to the Children’s Defense Fund, almost 400,000 children in Louisiana are living in either poverty or extreme poverty, and nearly 130,000 children in Louisiana currently are without health insurance. Without health insurance or access to affordable dental care, many of these children have poor oral health and teeth that are in declining condition.

                Senior Citizens

Senior citizens in Louisiana also have difficultly accessing regular oral health care, especially those individuals that are dependent on Medicaid or Medicare programs. Limited dental health care coverage significantly reduces senior citizens’ access to dental treatments.
