                Our Dental Care Programs

                School- Based Dental Care Program
All children require and deserve quality dental care regardless of their socioeconomic status. Our school-based dental care program provides preventative dental care to children at eligible New Orleans schools. Eligible schools include public and charter schools with a high proportion of students enrolled in free or reduced-cost lunch programs, and are selected based on the availability of funding and dental care providers.

Our school-based dental care program also aims to reduce dental injuries of children participating in athletic programs. According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, participation in athletics carries a considerable risk of sustaining a dental injury. The school-based program seeks to reduce this risk by increasing awareness on the importance of mouth protection, providing instruction on how to save a tooth during an emergency, and distributing mouth guards at athletic program sites. Mouth guards are considered to be the most effective way to prevent dental injuries during physical activity.

Financial difficulty often prevents senior citizens from receiving regular dental care. Private dental insurance and public programs, such as Medicare and Medicaid, offer limited reimbursement for senior citizens’ dental expenses. This program intends to provide care to senior citizens at retirement homes, nursing homes, and other residential institutions. We aim to make our dental services accessible to all individuals regardless of financial status, particularly for those who are homebound or institutionalized.
